Privacy
People’s privacy is a key design consideration for BC Wallet. The government isn’t told when a person uses the digital credentials in their BC Wallet, unless they are using those credentials to interact with the government.
Flexibility
BC Wallet can also store credentials from the private sector.
Empowerment
Every use of credentials in BC Wallet is explicitly approved by the person who owns it.
Transparency
BC Wallet’s code is open source.
Comparison to other wallets
There are other digital wallets available. However, B.C. has developed its own digital wallet to meet government’s needs for security, privacy and ease-of-use. Credentials in BC Wallet can also be used outside B.C.
Credentials meant for BC Wallet aren’t compatible with the mainstream digital wallets.
