Setup and eligibility
The Person credential is based on information from an individual’s BC Services Card. It’s stored on their smartphone, in the BC Wallet app.
To get a Person credential, an individual would first set up the BC Services Card app on their smartphone and complete the verification process. They’d then apply for the Person credential from their BC Wallet app.
How the Person credential can improve your service
Person credential benefits include:
- Privacy preservation. We don’t know when, where or how a person uses it, unless they’re accessing government services
- Quick validation. It can be validated automatically and in seconds
- Availability. It can be used day and night, on weekends and on statutory holidays
- User control. A person approves every use of their information
- Selective sharing. A person only provide the information that’s needed for a situation
- Discreet verification. A person can prove things about themselves without revealing all of their information. For example, they can verify they’re over 19 without sharing their date of birth
- Service efficiency. It streamlines and simplifies government services
