What we do
Using approaches like Agile and human-centred design, the Digital Office enables ministries to deliver excellent public services that are inclusive, reliable and cost-effective by offering support, guidance and tools. We’re focused on:
- Attracting and retaining digital talent
- Training BC Public Service employees to succeed in a digital workplace
- Modernizing vendor procurement
- Creating policies and plain language guidance for digital transformation
- Making it easier to create digital forms
- Providing DevOps and cloud services
- Connecting people with communities of practices
A key outcome of all these services is to assist ministries with the transition from legacy systems to modern, responsive applications.
Work with the Lab Services team
The Lab Services team is the entry point to working with the Digital Office for most ministries. We offer:
- Lab partnerships for priority government programs
- Self-serve guidance
1. Lab partnerships
We partner with government teams to help accelerate their continuous improvement efforts. We prioritize organizations with Deputy Minister endorsement, working on priority government programs. Teams that enter a partnership with us get access to services like talent, recruitment, training, communications and co-working space.
Teams that excel in a lab partnership achieve 6 key outcomes:
- Deliver a minimum viable service or product
- Develop a multi-disciplinary Agile team
- Understand people’s needs to drive decision-making
- Embrace a culture of continuous learning and iteration
- Focus on outcomes not outputs
- Build organizational capacity to continue the work
2. Self-serve guidance
There are several resources to help organizations improve service delivery. We can help connect you with the best resources for your needs.
